Camrose Alberta Parkland dominates Camrose, creating an atmosphere that is friendly, relaxed and clean. Special attention is paid to keeping recreational areas clean. Nestled in a valley and featuring barbecue shelters, a wandering stream and lots of wide open space, the spacious Golden Jubilee Park provides a warm heart to the community. Mirror Lake sits in the centre of the city, showing off its treed banks and sparkling waters and has been home to a family of swans that have made their home there for over 20 years.

Camrose is the market centre for a rich farming district southeast of Edmonton. A mission and a trading post were established by Father Bellevarie along the Battle River, about six miles south of Camrose, in an area now known as Duhamel. The trading post was built on the North West Mounted Police Trail between Edmonton to Regina. The original 1893 Mission Church has been restored as an historical site. Camrose was settled after 1900 by large numbers of Norwegians. Originally the Hamlet of Sparling, the town was renamed Camrose in 1906, and became a city in 1955. The city is also home to the Augustana University College at 4901 - 46 Ave.

Annual events include: Jaywalkers Jamboree (first weekend in June) with midway, carnival rides, entertainment, the Great Canadian Chile Cook-off, and The Big Valley Jamboree with country music's biggest acts (first weekend in August).

Today, Camrose has a population of almost 15,000 people and it's land mass covers about 26 square kilometers.
